Divine Sole Boutique finds it very important not only to provide our customers with the most stylish upscale footwear and accessories but to also educate on proper care for the feet.
What's the purpose of wearing fabulous Soles if we don't take care of our feet? Below are some tips on keeping our feet looking and feeling great!
1. Keep skin soft by applying lotion daily. Be sure to moisturize the heels. However, do not put oils or creams between your toes. The extra moisture can lead to infection.
2. Wear new shoes in slowly, and remember new shoes should not hurt your feet.
3. Remove any hard skin you may have gently with a pumice stone or a skin file.
4. Avoid damaging your joints. It is not wise to use a pumice or skin file over a joint. If your lesion is over a joint, seek advice from a chiropodist.
5. Purchase new shoes later in the day when feet tend to be at their largest.
6. Don’t ignore pain. Painful feet are not normal. Many foot conditions can be cured if you visit a chiropodist as early as possible.
7. Be aware of itchy feet. This may be a sign of a fungal infection of the skin. Seek advice from a chiropodist.
8. Avoid walking barefoot, as your feet are more prone to injury and infection.
9. Do not carry out bathroom surgery. Cutting out a corn with a pair of scissors can be very dangerous and can lead to further problems with your feet.
10. Break in new shoes gradually. Never wear a new pair for more than two hours. Then check your feet for blisters or areas of redness. Change shoes every day to allow them to dry properly between wearing.
